Okay, so this all started about six weeks ago when my dear friend P had the women's group over for our monthly inspiration. This time the topic was Feng Shui, and J (who's just brilliant and adorable) was presenting.
Even though my previous exposure to Feng Shui, an afternoon workshop years ago, had left me thinking that it was all either superstition or the obvious ("Don't build your house on a stagnant swamp!"), I was still eager to hear J's presentation. Glad I did! The light went on for me: this wasn't about Chinese coins somehow magically fixing my life -- it was about creating an environment that didn't make me feel hopeless and stuck. It was about intention, and letting go of everything that didn't serve me NOW, not turning my house into a museum of my life. Or worse, a mausoleum, with me as the corpse.
D and I are at that classic empty nester stage. We have our own business, and I don't know if you're heard this, but there's been a bit of a recession going on. So with time on my hands (well, a little) and a new passion in my heart, along with all the terror, I launched this project: to clear out the at-least-twenty-years worth of junk in my house, my mind, my heart, and my life, and see what happens.
So P said, "You should blog on this," and since she's always worth listening to, here goes.
I'll be catching you up on the project until now, along with links to sites and books that I've found really helpful, inspiring, and just plain funny. Plus, if you're into it, let's go forward together! Tell me about your own experiences with creating space from clutter, on all levels. And I'll tell you about mine.

Wow, I figured out how to comment. I love the running thoughts in your head when you are making a decision to toss. Can you address what to do with the stuff????
